How to Get a Utah CNA License

Applicants for certified nursing assistant (CNA) training are required to complete an academic training course. For those who want to practice in Utah, you need to complete at least 80 hours or more to be eligible for a Utah CNA license. Most nursing assistant’s program in this state offer courses of more than 80 hours. All states in the country divide their CNA training programs into two parts. These portions are the clinical and classroom training. CNA trainees will need to have clinical experience as part of the requirements for a Utah CNA license.

Licensure Examination

Once the program for a Utah CNA license is complete, students will need to prepare for the licensure examination for certified nursing assistants. The examination has two parts just like the CNA training program. The licensure examination will test the skills and knowledge of students about the duties and responsibilities of the CNA including nursing applications. In order for students to acquire a Utah CNA license, students are required to pass all parts of the test to successfully complete the examination. If on the first attempt a student will fail the test, he or she is only allowed 3 attempts. If on the last try, the student fails again, that student will have to retake the entire CNA program.

Once students pass the licensure exam, they become certified nursing assistants and are given licenses to practice in the state of Utah. The state certification must be renewed every two years. When the license is about to expire, the state will notify the CNAs affected.
