Residents of Miami, FL, who wish to become Certified Nursing Assistants, or CNAs, have plenty of options when it comes to getting the education they need. Like most states in the country, you must complete an approved CNA program to become a licensed CNA in Florida. Fortunately, the Miami area is home to a wide array of CNA programs, so you can easily identify options that suit your schedule and meet your financial needs. Most of these programs only take a few weeks to complete, and they prepare you to take the certification exam. Once you've done that, you will receive your license and will be eligible to apply for CNA jobs.

Lindsey Hopkins Technical College
With its location right in Miami, Lindsey Hopkins Technical College is a great option for those who live in the city. The school's Patient Care Assistant Program is endorsed by the Florida Board of Nursing and is designed to help you pass the national certification exam. Consisting of around 290 hours of instruction, the program is made up of theory, labs, and clinical practice. Approximately half of the program is devoted to the latter, which takes place at nursing homes and other facilities in the area.
Advance Science Institute
Known also as ASI, this school is located in Hialeah, which is about seven miles from downtown Miami. Its Patient Care Technician program is quite extensive, as it totals 940 hours of learning and spans almost an entire year. More specifically, you will receive 674 theory hours, 96 lab hours, and 170 externship hours. The latter takes place at hospitals, nursing homes, and other facilities. Upon the successful completion of the program, you'll be able to take the certification exam, get your license, and apply for CNA positions.
Florida National University
This popular technical college is also located in Hialeah, FL. Its Nursing Assistant program is geared toward preparing students for the certification exam, and it includes 120 hours of clinical practice at local healthcare facilities. Most students complete their clinical practice at nursing homes, but some go to hospitals and other facilities in the area. By the time you complete the program, you'll be ready to take and pass your exam and will have a very good idea about what it's like to be a CNA.
Robert Morgan Educational Center
If you live in Miami itself, this school may be right for you because it's located right in the city. Its Patient Care Technician program is a great option for local residents who want to pursue careers as CNAs. You must be at least 16 years old to enroll in this program, which consists of 600 hours of learning. Like most CNA programs, it includes classroom instruction, lab work, and clinical practice at local healthcare facilities. Once you've passed the program, you'll be eligible to sit for the state exam for certification.
Sheridan Technical Center
Situated in Hollywood, FL, which is about 25 miles from downtown Miami, Sheridan Technical Center offers a very popular Patient Care Technician program that prepares you for obtaining your CNA license. This is accomplished by taking and passing the Florida State Nursing Assistant Certification Exam, or CNA exam. The program that's offered by this school includes a total of 600 hours of learning, which is split up into labs, classroom work and lectures, and clinical, hands-on practice at local extended care and skilled nursing facilities. By the time you graduate, you'll be ready for the exam and will also have the skills that you need to get going in your career as a CNA.
There's no way to easily find great CNA jobs in Miami without obtaining your CNA license first. The preceding programs are the first step in the process. Don't rush into choosing a program.
