In Oregon, the Oregon Department of Health regulates all nursing assistant training programs and certifications within the state. In accordance with rules set by the Department, if you wish to become a CNA in Oregon, you must complete a state-approved program. After completing your training, you will need to achieve a passing score on the state's two-part CNA certification exam.
How to Get Your CNA Certification in Oregon
One of the best features of choosing a career as a nursing assistant in Oregon is that the certification procedure is extremely straightforward. The only thing that you are required to do is to achieve an acceptable score on your CNA certification exam. Upon receiving an acceptable score, the testing center will mail you a certificate and grant you with CNA certification for an initial period of two years.

If you want to verify your CNA certification status in Oregon, you can do so on the Oregon State Board of Nursing website. Once there, click on “Look Up A Nurse/Nursing Assistant.” This will lead you to the license verification tool that you can use to verify your current status.

In Oregon, you will need to renew your CNA certification every two years. To be eligible, you must have worked at least 400 hours as a paid nurse aide within the last 24 months in Oregon. You can easily renew online by going to the nursing board’s website. If you did not work at least 400 hours as a CNA in Oregon during the two years prior to your certification's expiration date, you will need to reinstate your status. To do this, you must submit a renewal application, pay a reinstatement fee and retake the CNA exam.
